Plan signage power and cable exits before production

The best cable is the one the finished space does not draw attention to. Clean installation depends on deciding power position, cable exit, driver access and control method before the sign is manufactured.

Coordinate the cable exit with the artwork

The shortest electrical route is not always the cleanest visual route. Cable exits should relate to letter positions, backing edges, wall cavities and access from inside the building.

For individual letters, a mounting rail can consolidate wiring. For a contoured neon backing, a planned exit near a stroke or fixing point can reduce visible cable length.

Keep power supplies accessible

Drivers and controllers require ventilation and eventual service access. Concealing them permanently behind a closed wall may create a maintenance problem. Agree an accessible cabinet, ceiling void, service hatch or internal position before finishes are complete.

  • Define driver and controller location
  • Check dimming or RGB control requirements
  • Document access after handover

Match fixings to the actual substrate

Concrete, masonry, cladding, insulated façades and lightweight partitions require different fixings and sometimes additional substructure. A mounting drawing should identify both visible positions and hidden load paths.
